Democrats in Connecticut’s General Assembly this election year decided not to tinker with Democrat Governor Ned Lamont’s bi-partisan budget. We shall have to wait and see whether progressive Democrats in the state legislature are able, before the curtain finally descends on the two year budget, to make final spending adjustments in the budget through sleight-of–hand maneuverers in what is called the state’s “omnibus bill,” a gargantuan final budget edit presented to spending dissenters (read Republicans) moments before legislative adjournment.
State Rep. Toni Walker said, "We have to listen to the people. That’s why we have the public hearings." They didn't listen to The People who testified (I was one of them), at the Public Safety Committee's hearing on the proposed "gun control" bill, held after Newton. The useless, unconstitutional bill passed. John McKinney backed the bill, costing him the Republican nomination for governor.
On the bright side, (if there is one), this led to the exponential expansion of the Connecticut Citizen's Defense League's membership and influence. Currently, they have over 40,000 members. "Carry On".
Regrettably, this will fall on mostly deaf ears.
